Technology

What is PVD?

One of the most widely used techniques for achieving high-definition metallic finishes is PVD, which stands for Physical Vapour Deposition. It consists of applying extremely thin and highly durable layers of metal — titanium in our case.

This technology allows us to deposit titanium layers from 20 nm, making it possible to reproduce even the finest texture of the original piece.

Advantages of
PVD coating

01

Extreme surface hardness. The coating hardness is approximately 2,400 HV. This coating system achieves thicknesses of approximately 20–200 µm.

02

Maximum resistance to abrasion and scratching — twice or more than precious-metal glazes.

03

Maximum corrosion resistance: more than 1,500 hours of salt-spray exposure without surface alteration, in accordance with ISO 9227.

04

Resistant to UV exposure for 2,400 hours according to UNI 9397.

05

Resistance to freeze-thaw cycles.

06

Titanium-based coatings provide antimicrobial activity on the surface of ceramic tiles.
